Po'Sabile, Villa in Umbria
Discovered in 2006 while on honeymoon, Amanda and Ian Cherry spotted this derelict farmhouse through the windows of a local estate agent in Umbria, Italy.
But it wasn't until early 2014 and 3 children later, that they started works restoring this ruin into a stunning traditional umbrian farmhouse. Keeping all it's original features and reusing old materials found in and around the house where possible: the old shutters were brought back to life as kitchen doors, bedside tables and coffee tables whilst the old doors became bed heads. The original front doors were redeployed as the linen cupboard.
By April 2015, Po Sabile was ready to welcome guests. This exclusive villa fits up to 12 people and like all italians, very child friendly. Comprising of 5 bedrooms, of which one popular for 4 children, a great dorm for them to play and sleep in. The house also offers a child softplay room and a toddler pool next to the big swimming pool, allowing you to entertain your kids all day without having to go anywhere.
But if you were tempted to venture out and about, Umbria is known for it's amazing food, beautiful scenery and wonderful hill top towns including the regional capital, Perugia. Perugia, Monteleone d'Orvieto and Citta della Pieve are within 30 minutes whilst the magical hill towns of Siena, Cortona, Assisi and Montepulciano are all within an hour's drive of Po' Sabile. Rome is a 2 hour drive away and Florence a mere 90 minutes. Tours can easily be arranged and tailored to suit your requirements.
A region renowned for its wild boar roaming the hills for truffles, old olive groves and vineyards, will guarantee all foodies a haven of delicious restaurants and markets to discover. Visits to vineyards and olive oil producers can be organised for you.
For those looking for a little more action, Lake Trasimeno provides plenty of water-sports and, this being Italy, the roads are full of enthusiastic cyclists.
Po'Sabile is a perfect holiday villa for family and friends, so if you haven't booked your holiday yet, maybe consider Italy as your next destination.
